此外,MAFF还与胆固醇代谢和动脉粥样硬化相关。von Scheidt等人发现,MAFF能够调控胆固醇代谢相关基因的表达,并在炎症条件下与BACH1形成异源二聚体,共同下调低密度脂蛋白受体(LDLR)的表达,从而影响动脉粥样硬化的发生发展[7]。

MAFF的稳定性也受到表观遗传修饰的调控。Xie等人发现,BAP1作为去泛素化酶,能够去泛素化MAFF,从而稳定其蛋白水平,并抑制肿瘤的生长[8]。

MAFF还与神经退行性疾病相关。Wang等人发现,在阿尔茨海默病患者中,MAFF的表达水平升高,并伴随着抗氧化能力的降低,提示MAFF可能参与了神经退行性疾病的发生发展[9]。
