Faim在非神经系统中的功能也得到了研究。研究发现,Faim-S可以抑制非小细胞肺癌(NSCLC)细胞的增殖和细胞周期进程。Faim-S通过与IKK-α相互作用,降低其蛋白稳定性,进而抑制NF-κB信号通路,导致细胞周期相关蛋白CCND1的表达下降,从而抑制NSCLC细胞的增殖[4]。

Faim基因在进化上高度保守,表明其在多种生物学过程中发挥着重要作用。Faim基因的复制和不对称进化在啮齿类动物中得到了研究。研究发现,Faim基因在啮齿类动物中发生了复制,并出现了高度分化的同源基因,这种现象在基因复制中较为罕见[5]。
