MGI:1914332On the FVB/Ant background knockout mice show increased body weight, decreased locomotor activity, reduced serum ferritin levels, albuminuria, thrombocytopenia (females only), and a reduced size of kidneys, adrenal glands, interscapular brown adipose tissue and liver, which is analogous to control mice on a low iron diet. Analysis of a second knockout model on the C57BL/6NCrl background reveals significant effects in metabolic cage experiments, including differences in body weight and lean body mass, day/night activity, food intake, and energy expenditure.
