在睡眠-觉醒节律方面,Opn4基因的多态性也与睡眠-觉醒时间相关。研究发现,Opn4基因的Ile394Thr多态性与日本大学生的睡眠-觉醒时间有关,具有CC基因型的个体在周末和周间的睡眠-觉醒时间明显晚于具有TT或TC基因型的个体[3]。

此外,Opn4基因在黑色素瘤中起着致癌基因的作用。研究发现,缺乏Opn4基因的黑色素瘤细胞增殖速度较慢,细胞周期进程受损,Melanocyte inducing transcription factor(Mitf)表达减少。在体内,缺乏Opn4基因的黑色素瘤细胞肿瘤进展明显减慢,免疫细胞浸润增加。这些发现表明,Opn4基因在黑色素瘤中起着致癌基因的作用,并可能成为治疗黑色素瘤的潜在靶点[4]。
